A Place to Meditate

perfect mediation space A Dreamy Meditation Space

As I am just renewing a meditation practice, I find myself frustrated. This is not the most helpful energy to bring to the process, I know. The fretting comes from the fact that I do not have an ideal place in my home to dedicate to meditation.
Every room, except the bedroom has a "do something/work" vibe. Also, I can not seem to maintain order in any room for long. Inevitably, each space becomes a cluttered mess, much like my mind.
Adding more stress to the matter, my super rigid Christian Mom and my Grandmother are my next door neighbors. Every time I begin to chant during meditation, paranoia sets in. I imagine that they just happen to be taking a walk outside my window, and can hear me repeating my mantra which follows along the lines of, "Om, Shanti, Shanti, Sat Nam...". Naturally, this would lead to a very long lecture followed by worried looks, and my Mom would almost inevitably believe that I've been possessed or some such nonsense.
Now that I've gotten this off my chest, I may as well learn to deal with things as they are. It's time to imagine an ideal space for my home as is, and to put it into motion. I'll be sure to follow up as my space develops.

Hello Bon Ami,
Welcome to the blogging world. I hope you find the atmosphere fun, peaceful and centering. I think you are off to a good start here. The first step in peace is to start a blog. LOL.

If I am ever pressed for space, I find that mediating in the car (not while driving) does a world of good. Even taking "little" meditation breaks can all add up to something wonderful.

Dear Bon ami,
I guess you need to have a talk with your mother and maybe give her a book or two on meditation to read if she agrees.Otherwise just don't dwell on this thing much. try try and one day you WILL suceed. God bless you. If you need any help I am there.

Hmm, how is this coming along? Did you create a spot already. I meditate in the room where we have two computers and I do a lot of my work. But it is quite empty and clean and I love the light there.

About your parents, just something I will never understand about people who are so deeply into a religion....
Now I do not know to much about Christianity, although being a Christian myself "officially". BUT, isnt meditation a common thing in any religion? I know of people that take a retraite in a Catholic cloister where they meditate as well.
Isnt meditating like praying? Isnt this just another version of the same truth your parents are holding on to? You are doing only good...

I am sorry if I sound critical, I dont mean to sound that way. I just hope you do whatever feels like good to you...and isnt a criminal offense ;)

Take care,
Francisca.

p.s. I will add you on blogcatalog.
